Desmoplastic Fibroma, Report of a Rare Case in Infraorbital Rim
نویسندگان
چکیده
Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is a rare and locally aggressive intraosseous tumor with unknown etiology. The mandible is the common site of involvement in the maxillofacial region. However, it is believed that DF can arise in any bone of the body. A wide age distribution has been reported for DF occurrence, extending from birth to the sixth decade of life, with a peak incidence at 10 to 19 years of age. In this study, diagnostic and therapeutic management of a 6-year-old girl with a desmoplastic fibroma of the inferior orbital rim and zygomatic buttress are discussed. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) revealed a mixed lesion in infraorbital rim, which had ill-defined borders and a straight thick bony septum inside the lesion. It also involved the zygomatic process of maxilla and zygomatic bone. According to radiologic concepts, this rare lesion may mimic fibro-osseous, benign and especially malignant lesions. Regarding different treatment plans, identification of this lesion is essential. Furthermore, presence of coarse and irregular or straight septa along with some imaging criteria for malignant lesions such as destruction of the cortex, periosteal reaction and soft tissue invasion would be helpful to differentiate this lesion from malignant and multilocular benign lesions.

Imaging Findings Of Desmoplastic Fibroma Rarely Involving The Clavicle: Case Report
Desmoplastic fibroma of bone is a rare locally aggressive, but non-metastatic tumor. In this case report, we present a desmoplastic fibroma in an unusual location, the clavicle. Desmoplastic fibroma involving the clavicle is extremely rare, with only 2 reported cases before 1985. We report the imaging findings of a desmoplastic fibroma of the clavicle with a review of the relevant literature.

Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is a rare, benign but locally aggressive, intraosseous lesion with a high tendency of local recurrence. In this report the actual literature is reviewed regarding epidemiological data, pathology, clinical diagnostic criterias, therapy and prognosis. Moreover, a report of an interesting case is included localized in the mandibular corpus.

Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is a very rare bone tumor, classified as a benign lesion. It might be locally a very aggressive tumor with a high rate of recurrence after surgical resection. We present a case of a 3-year and 6 month-old patient, with mandibular desmoplastic fibroma. The clinical, imaging, histological findings and surgical treatment are discussed and, also, a brief review of the lite...
متن کاملInfraorbital Tuberculosis: A Case Report
Introduction: Extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) arising in extra-oral region in head and neck are rare, and when swellings arise from other sites such as infraorbital region, cheek, etc, tuberculosis is not usually considered for the differential diagnosis (DD) and often the diagnosis is missed and appropriate treatment is delayed. Case Report: We report a rare entity of pri...
متن کاملComputed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of desmoplastic fibroma with simultaneous manifestation in two unusual locations: a case report
INTRODUCTION Desmoplastic fibroma is an extremely rare primary benign bone tumor. It occurs most often in the mandible, followed by the femur and pelvis. To the best of our knowledge, fewer than 200 cases have been described in the published literature. Furthermore, this case is the first report of desmoplastic fibroma with simultaneous presentation in two different locations. CASE PRESENTATI...
